2013 Pinot Noir Reserve, Joseph Cattin

Joseph Cattin is widely regarded as one of Alsace's top producers of Pinot Noir. It is grown in far smaller quantities to the famous white grapes of the region, but when it is good it competes with some of France's very finest Pinot Noirs. The Reserve Pinot is a great example of the variety with a vibrancy of fruit and a background smokiness that is common to a lot of fine Pinot Noirs. It's lighter than those produced further south but it has such a clean precise flavour that it can accompany all manner of white meat dishes, even if slightly aromatic in nature.
