2004 Chateau Certan de May, Pomerol

The 2004 Certan de May was one of the standout wines of the vintage. On initial release it was firm, tannic and dense, but with a bit of age it has opened up and is now reaching it's drinking peak. There is an explosion of blackcurrant and cherry on the palate, joined by mocha and truffle notes on the finish. The tannins still hold the wine in good structure, but they are by no means overpowering, in fact decanting a couple of hours prior to drinking is sufficient to open this wine up beautifully.
