2014 Cassa Colheita Tinto, Rui Madeira

This wine is a blend of traditional Portuguese varieties Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional, in roughly equal parts (the same grape varieties used for Port production). It’s produced as a light and fresh style of red so is not aged for any time in barrel. After fermentation the winemaker allows the wine to settle and blend in large steel vats for about 8 months before it is bottled ready to be drunk young.

This medium bodied red is vibrant, fruity and perfect for the summer months. It has an inviting aroma of red berries and these continue onto the palate. It can be served at room temperature or slightly chilled if served on a hot day.
