2010 Tierras de Cair, Dominio de Cair

This is top notch Ribera from very old vineyards, of more than 70 years old, that grow on poor soils, in the highest spots of the region, around 900 metres above the sea level. The production yields are around 2,500 kilos per hectare.

The grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes and a double selection table ensures only pristine bunches make it to the wooden fermentation vats. Fermentation and ageing takes place in new oak barrels for 24 months.

The nose is intense, with a good balance between fruit and wood, with touches of fine wood, leather and black chocolate. Compoted black fruits and spices: vanilla, cloves and liquorice. Its taste is impressive, complex and powerful, with a good balance. Roasted and spicy tones also appear, well assembled with the ripe fruit. Silky smooth mouth feel with sweet tannins and a very long, lingering finish.
